Nancy James

Deacon

Nancy was blessed to be born into a devout Catholic family in Mercerville, New Jersey and ended up in Roanoke, VA after many moves.

After being a life long Catholic, Nancy felt it was time for a change and was drawn to St. John Lutheran for its church liturgy. She enjoys spending time reading the Word everyday and going on “walk and talks” with Jesus.

Whether she is serving a Deacon, heading up the SALT ministry, or, in the past, serving as Stephen’s Minister, she has been a faithful part of the St. John’s team and looks forward to what the Lord has in store for her next!

One of her favorite passages:

“Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.”

Philippians 2:3-8
