Andrea grew up in Raleigh, NC and received a B.A. in Psychology and Journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She met her husband, Doug while attending Crossroads Fellowship in Raleigh, where she eventually served on staff.  She worked also as Activities Director and Corporate Marketing Director in the assisted living industry. She had the opportunity to write and publish a scant smattering of freelance articles, which still kindles her dream of writing more in the future.

Andrea began attending St. John with her family in 2012 after relocating to Roanoke from Northern CA.  She and Doug have been married for 25 years and have two teen-aged daughters.  Most days, Andrea can often be found behind the wheel, driving the girls to their numerous after-school endeavors or cheering from the sidelines and audience.

On a rare free day, Andrea would like to be found scouring yard sales or thrift stores for cast off treasures to be transformed with a little elbow grease and a can of spray paint. She has been known to rescue and repurpose unwanted furniture found on the curb…and sees this as a lovely illustration of the way Christ redeems broken people for life and service in His Kingdom.  She also enjoys spending time with friends and savoring a good historical fiction novel.

“Our soul waits for the Lord; he is our help and our shield. For our heart is glad in him, because we trust in his holy name. Let your steadfast love, O Lord, be upon us, even as we hope in you.” – Psalm 33.20-22.
