We have special events to build community, encounter Christ, and serve others.

Fall

  •  Lake Day:   Aug 14: A day of fellowship and fun in the sun tubing, relaxing, and hanging out.  A great way to what God is doing in our youth group before the school year begins.  We have worship and discussion at night before returning home at 9:30pm.

  • Epic Worship Nights:  Aug 28 (SJ), Oct 9 (CHS), Dec 11 (SJ)6:30-8pmJoining with Church of the Holy Spirit youth for a night of worship and fellowship focused on “experiencing passion in Christ.”   We will alternate btw. churches every 6-7 weeks.
  •  Leadership Overnight:  Sep 4-5: 7pm-10:30am  For youth in confirmation and on the youth leadership team to focus on growing in Christ as servant leaders.
  •  Fall Retreat:  Our church family is taking a retreat focused on “Relationships.”  There will be intergenerational community building and time for men, women, and youth to be together for particular emphasis in discipleship.

Winter-Spring

  • Epic Worship Nights:  Jan 8 (CHS), Feb 26 (SJ) , April 1 (CHS) , May 6 (SJ)
  • Ski Trip:  A time to get away, have fun, and connect with Christ and one another after exams.  This is a great chance to invite a friend to hear about Christ.
  • Easter Breakfast:  Youth prepare and serve breakfast as a fundraiser for missions.
  • Thou Shalt Party:  April 15-29thA series of 3 parties and fun events to celebrate our new life in Christ after Easter
  • The Famine:  May 11-12:  Youth will spend the night, fast, worship, pray, and learn about God’s mission on Friday and serve with the congregation in different compassion weekend projects on Saturday.  We will end with a buffet dinner at the Red Palace.

Summer

  •  Epic:  “Experiencing Passion in Christ”:  July 15-20, 2012: A week of discipleship, adventure, and mission for 7th-12th grade youth @ St. John.  Youth are in a small group and rotate days running  a camp in the mountains for homeless children from the Rescue Mission, going hiking, tubing, and ropes course during the days.  At night, the youth have dinner and worship focused on what we are called to live for as Christians. 
  •  Mission Trip:    The high school youth take a mission trip each year.   In the US, we partner with YouthWorks to spread the gospel in tangible ways in a different city every year.  Once every four years, we take an international mission trip. 
  • The Master’s Inn Camp:  A Christian adventure  camp for youth of all ages in Altavista.  Includes great food, outdoor sports, lake, zipline, blob, horseback riding, and paintball.  Youth worship and learn about Christ during the day with their peers and caring leaders.
