Bringing the Good News to all the world
"He said to them, 'Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.'' [Mark 16:15]
At St. John, we believe that it is our mission to reach all the world with the Gospel - from our next-door neighbor to the far ends of the earth. In addition to our involvement with organizations serving the Roanoke Valley, we also support various international missions, particularly in Zambia and Nicaragua. Mission teams meet throughout the year to raise funds, plan trips, and pray for the physical and spiritual needs of people all over the globe.
INTERNATIONAL MISSIONS WE SUPPORT
OMNI (Orphan medical network international)
This Roanoke-based ministry provides food, clothing and education as well as medical and dental care to orphans in its OMNI village in Zambia through help from St. John and other churches. St. John provides financial support and sends mission teams to serve there each year. http://www.omnimissions.com/
EL FARO (THE LIGHTHOUSE)
The ministry, Iglesia El Faro, shares the life of Christ with people who live in La Chureca, the Managua City Dump in Managua, Nicaragua. In addition to holding weekly services for about 300 people, El Faro operates a preschool and daycare for children, a medical clinic, and several feeding programs. St. John provides financial support and sends mission teams to serve there each year.
