Thanks to the large number of volunteers who trimmed, mowed, weeded, pruned,
washed windows and who did all sorts of special jobs to keep our church looking
so great.
The new library was completed in October 2005. We were able to get volunteers
to perform much of the work. With the money saved as a result of the volunteers
we were able to help pay for the new table and chairs for the library.
Tina Hatcher’s office was completed in early November 2005. this project was
a real challenge because of the need to move Tina into Lauren’s old office, and
then move Lauren into the old library. Mold was discovered in the old library (
Lauren’s new office). I took the initiative to have the mold analyzed and a plan
for eradication was developed. It should also be noted that mold was also
discovered in the hallway outside of the music room. Most of the mold has been
eliminated. Additionally, the move of Lauren to the old library required that
the door between the old library and Pastor Cathy’s office had to be removed and
the space sealed. We enlisted volunteers to help accomplish this task. No
outside contracting, neither carpentry, electrical or painting were needed.
New wall hangers to accommodate banners were installed in the Great Room. In
addition, a new cross was made and installed in the stage area.
We currently utilize 19 heating and air conditioning units. We now have a
semi annual maintenance plan for all HVAC units. Since incorporating this
maintenance plan we will offset heating bills.
Organization of all storage space has been implemented. The exercise
equipment for the seniors has been moved to the 2nd pull down closet in the
Great Room. All excess office furniture is also being stored in a pull down
closet.
We researched possible alternatives to secure the building. A new locking
system was implemented and all outside door locks were changed. All inside
office doors still use the same key as before. We now have a record of everyone
who has a key to the building. Three new nightly lock up people were added to
allow existing members to rotate off.
The bank outside of the Sanctuary has been renovated with the addition of
5000 ivy plants and 100 bales of straw. The contractor monitored to ensure the
plants to ensure they are taking root and unwanted vegetation is being removed.
Thrivent gave us $1600 for this project, of which we used $1000.
Finally, we had a Thrivent Financial workday where the rest of the Money was
used. We had 19 volunteers who washed windows, we laid sod at the entrance
around the music room doors, and we replaced 7 azaleas in the Columbarium.
