Adult classes begin September 14th:
Old Testament Survey Class—Expand your knowledge of Scripture!
This lecture-style class will take a big picture look at the Old
Testament. Members will be encouraged to read excerpts from the
Scriptures each week. Meets September 14—December 21st. Taught by Pastor
Gerry and Pastor Mark. (Sanctuary)
Cults and Sects—This class will look at the main attributes of
cults and how to recognize them. We’ll look at Mormonism and the New Age
in detail. We’ll highlight Jehovah’s Witnesses and others to a lesser
extent. First two weeks—Introduction, patterns of cults, twisting
scripture, and mind control. Next two weeks—Mormonism: So you thought
they were just another good Christian denomination? Last two weeks—New
Age: definitions, backgrounds, Hindu/Gnostic Roots, and its infiltration
into society. Relaxation, guider imagery, spirit guides. September
14—October 19th. Taught by Scott Markwell. (Community Room)
The Men’s Room—The Men's Room is not your typical "Sunday
School" class. This is an opportunity for men to gather weekly, to be
challenged to grapple with how their faith impacts their life outside of
Sunday. No conditions or requirements—come as you are. We will use
various materials, but each session will be designed around a short
Biblical teaching with planned discussion to bring the key points into
sharp focus where iron can sharpen iron. Principal facilitators will be
David Paxton, Bill Horvath, and Tom Breene. (Room 213)
October 5 - December 21
God Is Closer Than You Think—based on John Ortberg’s book, God
Is Closer Than You Think. “This can be the greatest moment of your life
because this moment is the place where you can meet God.” This class
will be a relational class where the members will discuss the material
in the book as a whole group and in a small group setting. Please
pre-register so a book is available for you at $13.00. Jane Holmgren
