God & Tebow
God has never needed a large group to get His work done in the world. One will do just fine. From the one, faithful man Abraham, the whole world is blessed. Through the one leader, Moses, a whole nation escapes slavery. By the One Perfect Man, Jesus Christ, the salvation of the world hangs on a cross for all who would believe in Him. One is a mighty number in the hands of God.

So as I'm thinking about this, I've just finished watching Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos defeat the Pittsburgh Steelers in a NFL playoff game, a thrilling overtime victory. Tebow has led more last minute and overtime wins than any other player this year, and he's garnered an amazing volume of publicity and generated hours of discussion whole doing it. He's the one player in the NFL who wears his faith not just on his sleave but his pants' leg, collar, hat, and everywhere else. Many love and appreciate him for his faithfulness; many others revile him.

Tebow was the subject of a lively discussion Sunday in my adult community group. (How did we get on that tangent?) Does God care who wins football games, especially when Tebow plays? Does the Lord favor Tebow and help him on the fields of athletic contests? Is God using Tebow to bring more glory to Himself?

Apparently.

Not an hour after the game against the Steelers, I got an email from a church member. It said that Tebow threw for 316 yards in the game; the average yardage per catch was 31.6 (10/21); and, the first name of his coach is John.

John 3:16.

Hard to argue with numbers like those. Hard to argue what the Lord can do with a number like one.
