Loving our neighbors right here in Roanoke.
"Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people..." [Galatians 6:10]
At St. John, we recognize that discipleship and spiritual growth always includes service to others. If our faith journey is only an inward one, we will never become the disciples Christ has called us to be. As such, we place great importance on serving those right here in our Roanoke community.
We support a variety of organizations in the area working to address some of the local needs.
LOCAL MINISTRIES WE SERVE
These outreach projects take place 3 - 4 times year, partnering with local nonprofits with whom St. John has an ongoing relationship. We hope that this will encourage members of all ages to become personally involved with these partner agencies throughout the Roanoke Valley.
The RAM (Roanoke Area Ministries) House is an ecumenical, urban ministry that serves the Roanoke Valley by providing safe shelter and a nutritious lunch for the homeless, and emergency financial aid to those in need. Every fifth Tuesday, you’ll find a team from St. John serving lunch at RAM House. Contact the church office to join this team.
This team oversees the distribution of St. John’s mission outreach funds to provide a helping hand to those in need in our community and nation. They meet quarterly to consider opportunities to freely give to our fellow citizens.
