“Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.”  1Timothy 4:12

Alive 65! is the perfect place for "tweens"! A unique ministry to 6th and 5th graders,
Alive 65! is a high energy, highly social, loud and exciting atmosphere where students interact with God's truth and one another.

“In the Word”

SUNDAY SCHOOL:  Every Sunday morning from 9:45-10:45, an eager group of students gather to learn how to apply Biblical truth to their life.  Offered in a two-year cycle, students learn what the Bible has to say about the “traps” of adolescence (ex. pride, appearance, sibling rivalry) in year one.  The second year focuses on “Truth for Living” by exploring such topics as honesty, obedience,  and confidence thru the lives of persons in the Bible.

FIRST COMMUNION TRAINING:   Training in the sacrament of Communion is offered one Saturday morning in October and in March.  Both child and parents learn through participation in a drama, partaking in a reclining last supper, and creating a commemorative banner.

Life in Community:

SUNDAY NIGHT ALIVE 65!: A time for tweens to gather and have an awesome time learning a Bible lesson through games, puzzles, and activities that will make them laugh and wonder.  The group meets from 6:30-8:00pm, and part of every gathering is a time for active games in the great room and dessert. The three “rules” are:  have fun, participate and show respect.  School and neighborhood friends are welcome!

FALL TEAMBUILDING RETREAT:  Spend a Saturday in the woods and work as a team on the low ropes course at Jubilee Acres.  Can your team problem-solve their way to get all members thru a giant web?  Or carry precious cargo over a “river” by riding a rope?  A ton of fun, lots of laughs, and exciting memories make up this day retreat!

CROSSROADS KIDZ: On Wednesday evenings, we offer Crossroads Kidz! (4-year-olds through 4th graders and Alive 65!) which provides fun fellowship activities and a message learned through music and drama. Children are engaged through the high-energy fun of a large-group presentation as well as the relationship-building aspects of small group games and crafts. The program places heavy emphasis on music, art and drama.

THE MASTER’S INN SUMMER CAMP: Each summer, children who have completed grades 3-6 have the opportunity to attend an overnight camp with the Children’s Minister.  This rustic camp, located about 75 minutes from church, focuses morning and evening worship based on the life of a Bible Hero.  Children have two electives each day (ex. Paintball, horsemanship, crafts, archery/riflery, high ropes) and spend the afternoons at the lake (blob, water trampoline, zipline, waterboats) or roller skating with their friends.

SALEM RED SOX GAME:  Each summer, Alive 65! serves at the Rescue Mission, and then heads for a Red Sox game. This trip enables students to interact and form relationships with peers while sharing in Christian fellowship as the Bible calls us to do.

 Serving Others:

TEAM - TOTALLY ENERGIZED AND MATURE! (TEAM)

Students who complete the training and initiation, help lead Children’s Chapel as servant leaders to the younger children. Their job is to treat one another, and the younger children, in a way that ‘draws the younger children to their Savior.’ They serve as role models for the younger children who come to Children’s Chapel by interacting with them and modeling enthusiasm for worship. They prepare skits, puppet shows and present scripture in creative and engaging ways and are scheduled to lead about once a month. They also help with set up and clean up for children’s chapel. A training session/pizza lunch is held each quarter.

EASTER PARTY EGGS:  Over 600 plastic eggs need to be “stuffed” with candy in preparation for the annual Community Easter Party!  Students work with a partner for several hours one Sunday evening so that these eggs will be ready to hide.

COOKIES FOR KAIROS: Kairos is a prison ministry supported by men at St. John Lutheran.  Alive 65! prepares over 40 dozen (that’s 480) cookies for the men’s team to serve to the inmates as they attend sessions where they hear the promise of  a new life in Christ.

RESCUE MISSION FOOD PREP & TABLE SCRIPTURES:  Members of Alive 65! volunteer one summer afternoon and go to the Rescue Mission to peel and cut potatoes, husk corn, or serve as needed with other food preparation.  Their efforts help to feed the homeless.
